Boomer Brains Stronger than Ever
Today’s 70-year-olds are in better cognitive shape than their predecessors were, says a Swedish study examining cognitive health in seniors. Not only do seniors today perform better on intelligence tests than 70-year olds of the past generation, signs of early dementia, says the researchers, are harder to detect in its early stages. The research, from the University of Gothenburg, was based on the H70 study, which provides data on cognitive symptoms that indicate dementia and measure differences from generation to generation. Forgetfulness, the study authors add, remains a sign of early dementia.
