Evolutionary psychologist Daniel J. Kruger, PhD of the University of Michigan says that sex differences in consumer behavior are a result of years of men hunting and women gathering, and that the behaviors that we exhibit today are simply modern adaptations of those behaviors to fit our modern environment.

Fathers who change diapers and play with the kids set the tone for future involvement in their children’s academic careers, says a study from the University of Illinois which examined parental involvement and its connection to student achievement. Dads who get involved early are writing a “script” which determines how connected they are to their children, and that connection will continue past early childhood, researchers say.

Men who are stressed out are more likely to engage in high-risk behaviors such as gambling, unsafe sex, smoking, and illegal drug use than are women who are under stress, says new research. Women are more likely to engage in less risky activities and moderate their behavior, the study from University of Southern California found.

Obesity will kill your sex life. How to leave the table and get back in the bedroom.

 

Hormonal disruption is at least one culprit that interferes with a satisfying sex life for obese males, says a University of Utah study examining the relationship between obesity and physical intimacy. 

"Previous studies have found that obesity is correlated to lower sperm count and can be associated with infertility, but we wanted to know if obesity was biologically associated with an unsatisfying sex life, and if so, could it be reversible," the study's lead author, Dr. Ahmad Hammoud, of the University of Utah, said in an Endocrine Society news release. "Our results show that the answer to both questions may be yes."

Evolution is the reason and mating is the motivation behind excessive and showy spending, as males instinctively know that presenting themselves as having high “resource potential” will get them the women.
