Controversial report says Asian Americans fastest-growing group in U.S.
One hundred years ago most Asian Americans were “low-skilled, low-wage laborers crowded into ethnic enclaves and targets of official discrimination,” says Pew Research Center, which reports that today Asian Americans are the “highest-income, best-educated and fastest-growing racial group in the United States.” Compared with the general public, Asian Americans are more satisfied with their lives, finances and the direction of the country, and place more value on family, hard work, career success and education than other groups do, adds Pew.
