Out of the Mouths of Babes
America’s smallest citizens have their own views on the election.
Kids today feel as passionately about the candidates as voters do, says a poll by Harris Interactive, which measured the attitudes of children below the age to vote. The results, from the Harris Interactive Youth Center of Excellence YouthQuery, indicate that seven in ten 8 to 17 year-olds state that they are “very or somewhat closely following news coverage on the upcoming presidential election” and more than eight in ten (82 percent) plan to vote when they are old enough to do so. The online US survey used data taken from 1,064 youths between September 17 to 22, 2008.
